Critical Care Events in Scotland and The Scottish Intensive Care Society are pleased to present a symposium on the human factors of critical care medicine. The aim is to explore ways to improve individual and team performance in critical care medicine, whilst drawing on the experiences from those in the military and sporting worlds.Topics that will be covered include:

  • Human factors/team function in emergency care
  • Avoiding errors
  • Resuscitation ethics
  • Communication
  • Burnout
  • Leadership
  • Team-working
  • Stress Management

The main guest speaker is Professor Peter Brindley who is a Critical Care Physician at the University of Alberta Hospital, Canada and a Professor of Critical Care Medicine, Anaesthesiology and Medical Ethics. He has over 70 peer-reviewed manuscripts, 20 book chapters and over 50 lesser manuscripts covering resuscitation; crisis management; human factors; teamwork and communication. Some are even worth reading!
