Healthcare should select people competent for different applications – for example, different human factors and ergonomics experts to contribute to healthcare design and layout, design of patient flow, service design, IT system design, usability testing of medical devices, procurement, improving team performance and training non-technical skills etc.  Healthcare should aim to learn from experts and encourage the transfer of skills to their in-house team with a longer-term view of developing a strong field of healthcare experts.
